As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem. – Isaiah 66:13
Let me start by wishing each of our mothers a Happy Mother’s Day!!
To express our appreciation for mothers should come everyday and flow from hearts of gratitude for what the Lord has blessed us with. In their imperfections we still see how God has designed something we long for. This passage in Isaiah, however brief, tells us something of the Lord Jesus that we need. The world is full of things that concern us. Sometimes, we just need to feel comforted in our distress. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 describe God as the God of all comfort, and that he comforts us so that we may comfort one another with that same comfort. Perhaps mothers do this best.
My mother passed away when I was nineteen. That was a long time ago and many memories have faded. Faded but not forgotten. In all of them, I can still remember the comfort I felt as a child. By simply laying my head on my mother’s lap, I felt a comfort unlike any other. In this same manner, Jesus comforts us. When distressed with cares and concerns of this world, lay your burdened mind on him. Cast all your cares on him, because he cares for you!!
